Manchester
Then and Now

THE BRIEF:

To create an exhibition reflecting on Manchester’s transformation, while reinforcing the client’s position as a passionate advocate for the city.

CLIENT

Euan Kellie Property Solutions is an independent town planning consultancy with a passion for placemaking, storytelling and Greater Manchester.

We developed an exhibition concept that aligned perfectly with the company’s brand, marking 30 years on from the IRA bomb in Manchester that led to a major rebuilding of the city centre. It created a platform to tell Manchester’s story, bring together key figures from across the built environment and spark conversations about the city’s future.

PROJECT OBJECTIVES

  • To create a distinctive thought leadership campaign that celebrated Manchester’s transformation and reflected the company’s deep connection to the city.

  • To create a unique in-real-life opportunity for clients, collaborators and influential stakeholders through a programme of events that encouraged discussion about Manchester’s past, present and future.

  • To generate meaningful visibility for Euan Kellie Property Solutions while creating valuable content and opportunities for relationship building.

WHAT WE DID

We developed the concept for the exhibition, building on the company’s successful brand identity to create a platform for wider conversations about regeneration and growth.

We sourced a city centre venue, coordinating the practical delivery of the exhibition by managing logistics, hospitality arrangements and the many moving parts required to transform the concept into a month-long public exhibition.

We led on the exhibition’s creative development, producing the exhibition artwork and supporting photo captions.

Alongside the exhibition itself, we developed and delivered a programme of supporting events. This included a VIP launch featuring a keynote speech from Manchester City Council Chief Executive Tom Stannard and a panel discussion featuring leading figures from across the city, and a private roundtable event. We invited key stakeholders from across Manchester’s property network, developed discussion themes and briefing materials, facilitated speaker briefings and managed event delivery.

To maximise awareness, we delivered a coordinated marketing and PR campaign across social media, email marketing and media relations. We created promotional material aligning to the company brand, advertised the exhibition and events via email, secured media interest and facilitated Sky News filming at the exhibition.

Following the panel event, we produced a video capturing the discussion and key themes, extending the reach of the exhibition and creating valuable content that continued to support the wider campaign long after the events had concluded.

The exhibition performed so well that it was extended for a month at Material Source. It then moved to Manchester Central Library as part of their own exhibition: Manchester Bomb 1996: Commemorating the 30th anniversary of the Manchester IRA explosion.
